Inclusivity Around the School
It is important students feel as though their culture and cultural identity is being represented. There are many ways represent student’s cultural identity throughout the school.
By celebrating the commemorative events that reflect the multicultural environment of the school students and their families can begin to develop a sense of belonging. The Australian Government publishes each year a calendar outlining the important multicultural events such as Harmony Day and Sorry Day as well as each country around the worlds National Day. To find this calendar please follow the link https://www.harmony.gov.au/events/calendar
By labelling objects around the playground and within classrooms in English and the languages of each student within the school community as it enables students to make connections between their native language and English. In addition, by providing an explicit representation of student’s native language they are able to see their culture represented throughout the school and not just within the classroom.

Tuckshop:
The tuckshop is one of children’s favourite places to visit at school. They feel exited when they get to have an exiting treat that they paid for!
Because of how important the tuckshop is to students it is important that every student in the school is able to read and understand what is on the menu. Rather than having a menu similar to one you might find at a restaurant our tuckshops menue is slightly different. We have a menu based around pictures. Each item on the menu is lablled with a number and an image of what it looks like is provided. By doing this young children who can not read and our EAL/D students are able to see and understand exactly what they can order. It also helps our friendly tuckshop parents to understand what each student wants. Why they order they simpely say the number item they want.

Library:
Our library is open to students before and after school and during both lunch breaks. Within the library student’s can access a range of literature in both fiction and non-fiction.

We are committed to insuring our students can access literature and digital resources from both their own culture and Australian culture. To ensure students are able to access such literature we are continuously buying and obtaining new books. We greatly appreciate donations of books in any language, if you have story books that you would like to donate.
To ensure each student is able to understand the literature in our library we provide access to a range of free online dictionaries and translation apps.
